My Bodywork Approach
I use an integrative hands-on approach based in subtle soft tissue bodywork and techniques derived from osteopathy. This combination is powerful in addressing localised tension and pain, regions of imbalance and overall negative postural changes, and restoring optimal range of motion.
The work is gentle but the changes can be considerable, as the nervous system starts to re-establish balance at the deepest musculoskeletal levels.
Frequently, other systems benefit and physiological improvements also occur, particularly when spinal restrictions that affect nerve supply start to ease. It’s a quiet process and horses usually respond with deep relaxation as the parasympathetic nervous system is activated.

For horses with illnesses such as laminitis, recurrent colic, respiratory or digestive issues, or allergies, as well as more complex musculoskeletal issues, I use a combination of manual therapy and acupuncture.
My integrated approach is always ‘whole horse’, considering not only the whole body, but looking where necessary at hoofcare and saddlery that can be having a negative impact on posture and movement.

Training
- Equine Positional Release achieves structural correction through a non-force method, derived from osteopathy.
- Osteopathic Articular Balancing involves gentle manipulation and mobilisation of all the joints of the horse’s body, including the spine, neck and pelvis, legs, shoulders and hips. Learned in 2015 from Stuart McGregor of the London College of Animal Osteopathy.
- Veterinary Acupuncture applies the Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine approach to horses, addressing systemic imbalances as well as diseases and conditions diagnosed through western veterinary medicine. Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture from the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies.
- Equine Touch is a gentle myofascial modality (former instructor).
- I also coordinate Equine Dissections with internationally renowned anatomist Dr Sharon May-Davis, and have previously organised Equine Biomechanics and Bodywork Masterclasses with Dr Sharon.
- I trained in Veterinary Thermal Imaging with Vetel Diagnostics, taught by Tracy A. Turner, DVM, MS, Dipl.ACVS, Dipl.ACVSMR, the ‘godfather’ of veterinary thermography.
- My saddle fitting skills were learned primarily from Graeme Aitkens, Master Saddle Fitter, of Aitkens Saddlery, Brisbane; with additional Saddleworld proprietary training, plus an introductory week with Master Saddler, Peter Horobin of Peter Horobin Saddlery, Melbourne.
