Description
pHix, launched just last year and now available in Australia, is a remarkable natural supplement. It is already gaining an international reputation for its ability to restore metabolic balance through the scientifically evidenced benefits of matured hop extract. Amongst a range of health benefits, it improves energy levels and activates the body’s natural fat-burning abilities, reducing visceral fat around the midriff in many users.
While it’s true that many people are primarily attracted to pHix for weight loss reasons, a surprising range of additional health benefits have been reported, including:
– higher energy levels
– improved cognitive function
– relief from pain
– reduced inflammation
– diminished hunger cravings
– improved sleep quality
The scientific evidence supports this – scroll down for a list of papers.
Every person’s body is individual, with a unique background of conditions and experiences. It follows that responses to pHix are also different – some people notice the initial effects in a few days, while for others it can take two to three months, or even longer. Regardless, there are many anecdotal reports from people who have experienced profound health improvements in the first six months.
It’s important to remember that responses are individual, especially as lifestyle, health factors, and other concerns still play a part. If you have health concerns, please talk to your doctor first. Results may vary. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

What about the science?
Hops, the flowering part of the Humulus lupulus plant, are best known for adding bitterness and aroma to beer. But beyond the brewery, hops have been used in traditional herbal medicine for calming nerves, supporting digestion, and promoting sleep.
More long-term studies are needed, although the current clinical research and user experiences point to a safe, natural tool that supports metabolic and emotional health.
Recent studies have made inroads into analysing the effects of this supplement – you can find a growing list of research papers at the bottom of this page.
How pHix differs from regular hop extract
Matured hop extract is a refined version of standard hop extract. Yet unlike typical hop preparations, this newer form is specially processed to increase beneficial compounds while removing elements responsible for unpalatable bitterness.
Importantly, the alpha acids found in traditional hop extracts, which can cause stomach upset in some people, have been transformed through the maturation process. The modified form of oxidized hop bitter acids — i.e. compounds such as humulinones and isohumulones — are better tolerated by the body. They have also been the focus of new scientific interest for their health-related properties.
Scientifically Supported Health Benefits of Matured Hop Extract
Helps Reduce Visceral Fat
One of the most significant findings in recent research is matured hop extract’s potential to reduce visceral fat — the deep abdominal fat linked to metabolic disorders. In a randomized, double-blind study, subjects who consumed oxidized hop bitter acids showed measurable reductions in visceral fat over a 12-week period. Other studies have shown an effect on appetite control.
Supports Better Sleep
Matured hop extract has been shown to support natural sleep processes. In clinical settings, participants reported improvements in sleep latency and quality. This is attributed to compounds produced during hop aging, such as 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol, which have a mild sedative effect.
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Another area of growing evidence is stress regulation. Controlled trials have indicated that matured hop extract may help reduce symptoms of mild anxiety and tension, likely through interaction with neurotransmitter pathways involved in mood regulation.
Enhances Cognitive Function
Recent studies have highlighted the potential of matured hop extract in supporting cognitive health. A randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover study found that bitter acids from mature hops improved cognitive and mental function via the vagus nerve, one of the autonomic nerves.
Additionally, animal studies have demonstrated that matured hop bitter acids can increase norepinephrine levels in the hippocampus, a brain region associated with memory and learning, leading to improved cognitive performance.
Anti-Inflammatory and Metabolic Effects
Beyond fat metabolism, oxidized hop bitter acids also show anti-inflammatory activity. Early research suggests these compounds may help reduce low-grade inflammation associated with metabolic syndrome, possibly aiding in blood sugar regulation and cardiovascular health.
Is It Safe?
Matured hop extract is generally well-tolerated, especially compared to raw or beer-grade hop extracts.
The newer generations of the extract are specifically formulated to reduce bitterness and gastrointestinal side effects. However, individuals with hormone-sensitive conditions or those taking sedatives should speak with a healthcare provider before use.
However, it is advisable to talk to your doctor or medical advisor if you have health concerns.

Here are changes I’ve felt within two months of taking pHix. I’ve an autoimmune condition (Hashimoto’s) that has been leaving me tired and sluggish with brain fog… and then there’s being over 50 years too. Within a week of taking pHix twice a day, I started waking up with a clear mind and clear upper airways. There seemed to be a diuretic effect too, as my tummy flattened out. Since then a niggling lower back pain has gone and although it’s early days my energy has shot up. I still need plenty of sleep, but I feel alert all the hours that I’m awake. I think I have an extra hour in my day now! I really surprised myself with extra energy at the gym today. Hopefully at some point I can drop down to one sachet a day, but the benefits so far are so good that I’ll be keeping it up.

After being diagnosed with PTSD a few years ago, self-healing, in all its forms – emotionally, physically, mentally – has been slow and arduous. Interrupted sleep, a painful digestive system, high anxiety and eye inflammation have impacted my whole state and sense of being and making it difficult to move forward. I hoped – with much caution and reservation – that PHIX may be able to assist me with improving any aspect of myself and hopefully have a positive knock-on effect overall.
I initially took two sachets a day and then went down to one. In just under two weeks I lost between 700g-1kg. I was already slowly losing weight but this increase was quite dramatic. My clothes immediately felt more comfortable and my guts not as sore and even occasionally painless. In this short period I also contracted a cold from two much younger family members in my household. Unusually for me, I suffered much milder symptoms with my airway remaining remarkably clear, even throughout the usual “bunged-up” phase.
Although it’s still very early in this personal trial phase, I do believe that I have been more relaxed and clear headed in my thought processes. I also believe that I’ve felt somewhat more optimistic in my overall outlook. I will definitely continue with the PHIX regime for another three months and cautiously trust that the results will be beneficially conclusive in that time.”

Within a few days I started to see some results – it’s now been five months. I’m 66 and have had autoimmune issues for 50+ years, chronic pain in my shoulders from a fall 14 years ago, knee issues from Osgood Schlatters (pain and swelling), and spinal pain/challenges from Ankylosing Spondylitis. I also had problems with brain fog and memory. Brain fog went in a few days, general cognition much improved. Better sleep. Knee swelling almost completely gone. Shoulder and back pain gone. Memory and digestion improving. Feeling calmer at work and home. Afib improved!

I am a slow starter – it always takes a long time before I feel any improvement when I start something new. I have severe osteoarthoriathis, bone on bone, in both knees with an impending knee replacement hanging over my head. I step that I am very reluctant to take as I am “ only 67 “ and I feel its too early. So as a retired physiotherapiste I decided to join a training programme and loose some weight to ease the load. Then I heard about pHix – from a friend I trust completely – and decided to look into it to make sure there were some proper science behind. Relieved to find it and that it (although the bio side of it was over my paygrade) made sense, I decided to try it out for the recommended 3 months. I have now just started my 4 month and I am still not really sure what it does, but sure that I am on the right track. The inflammation level in my knees is down, I can train without pain – during and after, my weight is going down – my stomach flatter, and I feel lighter. I have always had good energy, not so much in the mornings though, but I definitely have more energy and am ready to get on with things when I wake up. So I am interested to see what my condition is after the next 3 months. Maybe the first 3 month were to reach homeostasis – and the next 3 month is going to show significant results.
