Thank you. It's lovely, isn't it? It's common to modalities where parasympathetic activation occurs. I've seen a whole herd do this, and also the second horse lying down for a nap on a few occasions, or having a stagger as they find themselves going too deep!

To add to what you mentioned above, Jim Masterson observed that sometimes if the horse's buddy is nearby - the buddy will do all the yawns and twitches for their "unresponsive" friend. It happened to me a couple of days later!

Thank you so much for this, Gretchen. I wanted to share something that is deeply nuanced in a simple way that is easy to understand. And there are so many times when I need to come back to this, to let go of technical assessment and anatomy and biomechanics and and and... of course that is still there, but in the moment, our response can be shaped by something far more important for that individual, even if it is almost unconsciously so. Meanwhile, the happy ones and the ones with 'smooth' accepting vibes and bodies that open up to us make it such a delight!

Yes I have met all of these, many have left me in tears (public and private) .... and yes I truly valued those looks, the sigh, the breathing change, the change of posture. But what I truly learnt to feel was the how the energy or vibe of the horse softened. Mostly I wasn't aware of it till it had but occasionally the horse gifted me with the "I see you.... see me" moment.

Thanks for your work Jane <3
